Michael's Gold Medal Winners

 This informal wine tasting will feature several of Michael's GOLD medal winning wines over the past several years at the Governor's Cup Wine Competition.  Michael will conduct this tasting in the tank room at the winery.

Richard Hewitt has chosen some classic Portuguese wines to pair with a traditional Portuguese 4-course dinner prepared by The Alley Light.  Hewitt was a longtime sommelier at Keswick Hall, has written a book on his experience living in Portugal, runs a travel company and spends a lot of time in Portugal.

Sparkling Wine: Virginia vs. The World Blind Tasting

Saturday, December 3rd from 2-5 pm. This sit-down event will feature our traditional cheese board and local chocolates to pair with Michael's selection of sparkling wines from Virginia, Champagne and around the world.  Michael will conduct this educational blind tasting with discussions to follow each of the four flights of wines.

Please note this event will be held at our Warehouse--called Wineworks Extended at 1585 Avon Street Extended near downtown Charlottesville.   

The cost to attend is $60/person (only $50 for Wine Club members).  Please RSVP by responding to this email or by sending your name to tastingroom@virginiawineworks.com.  The deadline to RSVP is Wednesday, November 30th.

meritage library tasting sat nov 19th

Join us on Sat. Nov. 19th from 11am-5pm at the Harris Creek Winery for a vertical tasting of the Michael Shaps Meritage featuring the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 vintages. A one-time opportunity to taste wines from Michael's "library". The wines will be available for purchase during the event. The tasting fee is $25/person and Wine Club Members will receive their 20% discount on any wine purchased. Tasting Room Manager Cassandra Bard will conduct the tasting. RSVP to tastingroom@virginiawineworks.com.
Walk-ins will be welcome if event is not sold out. This is a casual, open-house style event. Wear warm clothing as this tasting takes place in the cellar area.
